Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
