The Manager's Stance on Celtic

McKenna referred to Celtic as "an enormous football club" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in recent years and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit 12th in the Championship.

"There have been such conversations," the London-born former Irish youth international said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a unique position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial stage of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Background and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about those. "I don't think everyone has to publicly and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a really big football club."

The coach signed a new multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his alleged buyout clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Town's coach indefinitely. I understand that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as while I am here."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker played for Celtic on temporary transfer from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the former Wales forward is inclined to complete the ongoing World Cup campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and North Macedonia in next month would book their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a productive Nations League performance, even if they fail to end up Group J second place.

Considering his present stance, the Wales manager, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would not be available until after the play-offs at the earliest.
