Patrick Bamford Signs With Sheffield United Despite Leading Abusive Chants About Coach Chris Wilder

The striker is now a member of Sheffield United only seven months following starting disrespectful songs targeting the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a agreement with the Championship strugglers through the winter. His lengthy time at Elland Road was ended amicably in August.

Among the player's final notable acts while at Leeds involved leading offensive songs regarding Chris Wilder during Leeds' success festivities this spring. Now, the former England player will feature under Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to rescue the team he loves away from the drop zone.

Previous Conflict Between Bamford & Wilder

Both men had previous conflict prior to Leeds moved up back to the Premier League last season and United lost the promotion decider by Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" back when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and the Blades won automatic promotion while Leeds United missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

All appears has been forgiven and forgotten with United, the Championship’s least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement in attack and Bamford looking to revive his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Patrick and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder commented back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I have no issue at all with that. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel as well and we had a longer discussion together and he is a great person, a class act. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and take it and that is an integral part of football across all levels, including a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Playing Struggles

The forward made 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough player has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
