Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning run was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' latest record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, though. Burnley are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

My son advised me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

They have have lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
